Yes this is an exercise related post, no it’s nothing to do with being tidy... although 'tidying' would count!
NEAT – Non-Exercise Activity Themogenesis – refers to the amount of activity you do in a day which isn’t classed specifically as ‘exercise’.
Things like walking to the shops, taking the stairs instead of the escalator, taking the dog out, parking the car at the far end of the carpark, cleaning the house, doing the gardening, getting off the bus stop earlier, standing in the bar instead of sitting…
Added together, these make a really big difference to your overall health, fitness and (helpfully) fat loss.
So, this week, instead of worrying that you haven’t had time to get to the gym, or that you can’t fit an hour’s workout into your busy schedule, simply try adding more NEAT activities into your life.
